Sweep and Service of multifuel stove in Taunton
I had a customer contact me, they had just moved into a property and their multi fuel stove needed sweeping but also required new fire bricks and the glass replacing as it had cracked.
Keeping communication open
The customer and I were in communication with each other prior to me carrying out the work required. The stove is around 20 years old and unfortunately parts are no longer available, however I was able to replace them with alternatives. The customer measured the glass that was currently in the stove and I ordered the neo ceramic glass from our local glazier.
Fire bricks
On arriving I made sure the area was covered with protective sheets. I then took measurements for two side bricks as they were missing, 3 of the back bricks were also badly damaged so needed replacing. I cut out two side bricks and made two larger back bricks to replace the 3 back bricks to keep costs down.
Neo Ceramic glass
The glass was a little tricky to get out as unfortunately the nut and bolts were seized up due to age and needed grinding off, so I replaced them when fitting the glass. The glass has to be neo ceramic as it withstands high temperatures.

The sweep itself was straightforward, a smoke draw test was carried out and resulted in a good draw. The area was cleaned and a sweeping certificate was issued.
